WAVES is a non-traditional, creative and educational curriculum delivered to Grade 6’s in primary school. It is a community template designed to empower young people to engage with music technology, songwriting and issues around climate change.

“Brimbank Council worked closely with Ripley Kavara and their team to pilot their WAVES program in a local primary school with great success in 2019.The content of WAVES reflected a nuanced and accessible approach to discussing and making art in relation to the realities of climate emergency on Aboriginal lands. WAVES was carefully curated and responsive to the Grade 6 students with the team holding space for children's diverse opinions, knowledge and cultural worlds. Students enthusiastically took to singing, spoken word, rapping and beatmaking with an overwhelming sense of agency and joy.”

Ripley Kavara has worked with City of Melbourne, City of Darebin, City of Brimbank, ACCA, The Push, The University of Melbourne, Footscray Community Arts Centre, Midsumma, Parkville College, drummond street services and Sound School
